  • Gids on 19/8/10

    Two possible conclusions:

    1.

  • Gids on 18/8/10

    Weigh in tomorrow !!

Had chips and a ham & gravy roll for lunch today, so unless I get a bout of dysentry overnight, I'm stuffed (pun intended).

  • Gids on 23/7/10

How many of you ladies are having a glass of wine or 2 tonight ?
Alcohol free week for me - well, the working week at least....

  • Gids on 21/7/10

No chance - love the BMI !! Next you'll be talking water content ....

Winner is the largest aggregate loss of:

    - BMI %
    - guts inches for the blokes
    - single thigh inches x 2 for the brides and friends

Seems like we are tracking kg for academic interest but arse inches will remain a mystery ....

    Examples
Bloke scenario - BMI moves from 35 to 34 (-1), gut moves from 38 to 36 (-2), net score of -3
Brides' scenario - BMI moves from 30 to 29 (-1), thigh down 2 inches (-2x2), net score of -5 ... as if !!

Weekly weigh-ins encouraged by the use of bonus points - in any week that there has been favourable movement in both BMI and inches, a bonus point is earned. Failure to weigh in or both moving in a negative direction, costs a point.

Otherwise - I also suggest we move the final weigh in to 19th rather than 20th Aug - before the dinner !

So 29 days to go AND i went to the gym this morning for the 2nd time this week.

  • Swiss-Miss on 21/7/10

Hi - I suggest the removal of the BMI rule. BMI is simply height divided by weight. Therefore anyone who is short and has got a lot of muscles (me!!!) will be disadvantaged. According to BMI I am overweight...... which I am def not! Instead I suggest the introduction of measuring the waist as well as arms in inches. That's where females would generally have more fat if they eat a lot of sugar

  • U674176 on 20/7/10

Did someone say there's a prize involved? OK - now it's definitely game on! (Barbs)

  • Gids on 20/7/10

Yeah - cant count ! Blokes -3 in my poorly drafted example

  • Swiss-Miss on 20/7/10

    questions
    1. does the gut count double as well? not sure I follow your calc for a bloke
    2. how about we do the weigh in every Friday at 9am - final one at the offsite

  • Gids on 20/7/10

OK - here we go ....

Prize: $500 voucher - winner's choice of Rockpool for dinner or Observatory for a pamper.

Winner is the largest (no pun intended) aggregate loss of:

    - BMI %
    - guts inches (old school!)
    - thigh inches (yes brides - effectively as each thigh counts, you get double the benefit)

We'll leave kg and arse inches a mystery ....

    Examples
Bloke scenario - BMI moves from 35 to 34 (-1), gut moves from 38 to 36 (-2), thighs remain the same, net score of -4
Brides' scenario - BMI moves from 30 to 29 (-1), gut stays flat, thighs down 2 inches each, net score of -5 ... as if !!

Weekly weigh-ins optional, BUT are encouraged by the use of bonus points - in any week that there has been favourable movement in 2 out of three of the above, a bonus point is earned. Failure to weigh in - or 2 out of three moving in a negative direction, costs a point. This week is a "free week" and there are 4 weeks to the offsite including the final weigh in.

  • Ally-Myburgh on 19/7/10

Well - with no prep at all I will be starting from the top......so the olny place to go is down....in size:) Will bring my tape measure.

  • Gids on 19/7/10

After a week successfully carbo-loading at the snow, initial weigh in/measurement tomorrow (i will bring in some kg/bmi scales). Any last minute suggestions of additional victims also welcome. The other bride, Ruza, has respectfully declined....

  • Gids on 9/7/10

Comp formally starts with weigh in 19 July. Will then run for 5 weeks (final weigh-in at THE OFFSITE - 20 Aug)

Kate is coming up with a few rules - and possible prizes:
    - inches v kg v BMI as a measurement
    - weekly incentive v monthly penalties etc
    - supervised measurement; and
    - maximum (at first weigh in) and minimum (thereafter) clothing requirements at weigh in.

All other suggestions welcome (other than anything to do with cameras)

  • Swiss-Miss on 8/7/10

    go the brides or bridezillas

  • kateella on 8/7/10

watch out gids.....I have already started my detox!
